Ya Ann I place it on the center rack , should I Try it on higher shelf ?? … My another humble request , pls upload cool cake recipe , where the cake is juicy smoothy unlike sPonge cake…

Hey Wat a creativity , hats off… Btw can u pls clear me a doubt .. Usually when v bake a cake , the bottom layer turns nice brown color .. How u achieved white here making the polka dots so visible …

Hi Fathima, Only the top of cake is brown not the bottom. The polk dots are piped at the bottom.

Ann, sorry for bothering u so much.. But I find my cakes brown at the bottom … Wat would be the reason and how to avoid it ., since v need white bottom for this one … I Really want to try this fantabulous art cake

Fathima, sorry that I've not never encountered your problem before. BTW did you place the cake tray at the center of the rack in the oven?

Hi Ann

I noticed that there is no sugar and baking powder in your recipe but I have seen them in other swiss roll recipe. Could you tell me why you dont add these ingredients? Is it ok if I replace the butter with canola oil as I dont like butter? I am going to try this recipe cos my children will be fascinated with the design. Thanks.

Hi,

I'm using the optima flour also known as sponge mix that sugar and baking powder all inside. If you can't find optima flour, you can take a look at my Strawberry Swiss Roll using sugar and no baking powder.

I love the polka dots 😀 I'm wondering if i can add chocolate emulco to the remaining batter(swiss roll) and leave the polka dots colour plain.

Anncoo, your polka swiss roll is very lovely!It's like a replica of the polka bag. Very neat roll too.You have just inspire me to give swiss roll a try again since many times my swiss rolls turned into rum balls lol.

Hi Coleen,

Thank you for your compliments.
Optima flour is actually flour to which sweetener, cake improvers, rising agents have been added. It is less a flour, and more a cake mix. You can use ordinary sponge cake recipe if you've a good soft sponge cake recipe provided the cake is not over baked or else the cake will cracks when rolling up.
Leave the cake to cool before removing the skin from the cake.

Hello Anncoo, You are very clever. The cake is beauiful. What is optima flour? Is it the same as our cake flour? Also, is there a secret to taking the skin off of the cake? You make it look easy, can you tell me more?
