This steamed pork with mui choy (preserved vegetable) is a comfort dish in our home. It brings back sweet childhood memories and I grew up having my grandma served this dish on our dining table, quite often.  Making this dish is very easy.  All you have to do is to combine all the ingredients together and for a perfect meat texture, you’ll need to use pork (minced pork) with a bit of fat.  An all lean pork mixture will result in a tough and hard texture.  This is indeed very appetising and goes well with rice and porridge.

Steamed Pork with Mui Choy

A comfort dish, very appetising and goes well with rice and porridge

Ingredients
 

  • 250 g minced pork with fat
  • 65 g sweet mui choy - preserved vegetables

Seasoning

  • 1/4 tsp chicken powder
  • 3/4 tsp sugar
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1 tsp light soya sauce
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp corn oil
  • 1 tbsp corn flour - corn starch
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1 egg white

Instructions
 

  • Rinse sweet mui choy several times under running water and soak for 15 minutes. After soaking, rinse it a few times again and squeeze dry. Cut mui choy to pieces.

  • Combine minced pork with sesaoning and stir with a pair of chopsticks in one directions until the meat becomes sticky, about 2 minutes. Then add mui choy bits and combined well.

  • Place pork mixture into a shallow plate and flatten with a back of a spoon. Steam under high heat for about 8 to 10 minutes.

  • Garnish with some shredded chillies and best served with rice or porridge.

梅菜肉饼 Steamed Pork with Mui Choy

  1. 冲洗梅菜干数次,然后浸泡15分钟。再冲洗净几次,挤干水分;把梅菜切成粒。
  2. 肉碎和调味料一起搅拌,用筷子顺着一个方向搅打至肉碎起胶约2分钟。撒入梅菜粒 ,再拌匀即可。
  3. 取一干浅盘子,将肉碎混合物倒入盘子中并铺平(用汤匙铺平)。置入蒸笼中隔水用大火蒸约8-10分钟即可。
  4. 最后撒上辣椒丝,即可享用。配米饭或白粥一样好吃。
