Turmeric Fried Rice with Spicy Sausage
I love to add turmeric (kunyit) powder and garlic in my fried rice and it is regular at our home. With very simple ingredient like only prawns and some light soy sauce as main seasoning will give a fragrant and nice yellow color fried rice (refer here). This time I added some leftover spicy chicken sausages and prawns in it, of course you can add any other ingredients you like especially greens.
Ingredients: (2-3 servings)
500g Cold cooked rice (1.5 cups uncooked rice)
2 tbsp Chopped garlic
200-300g Prawns – remove shells, clean and cut into 3 section, season with salt and pepper
3 Eggs – beaten and add 1 tsp soy sauce and a dash of pepper
2-3 tbsp Soy sauce
2-3 tbsp Turmeric powder (add less if you don’t like too much turmeric powder)
2 tbsp Chopped garlic
200-300g Prawns – remove shells, clean and cut into 3 section, season with salt and pepper
3 Eggs – beaten and add 1 tsp soy sauce and a dash of pepper
2-3 tbsp Soy sauce
2-3 tbsp Turmeric powder (add less if you don’t like too much turmeric powder)
2 Spicy Chicken Sausage (sliced)
1-2 stalk Spring onion – cut finely
1-2 stalk Spring onion – cut finely
Method:
- Heat enough oil in wok, add beaten eggs and swirl around the wok until just cooked and use the frying spade to cut the eggs into small pieces. Dish up and set aside.
- Add about 1 tbsp or a little more oil in wok and fry garlic till aromatic then add prawns till cooked and add spicy sauage into it.
- Put all the cold cooked rice in it, continue to stir fry well with the garlic and prawns and add 2-3tbsp soy sauce in it – stir fry well.
- Sprinkle about 2-3 tbsp turmeric powder on rice and mix well and add in cooked eggs.
- Off heat then add a dash of pepper and spring onion on rice, mix well and serve hot immediately.

I've yet to try turmeric with my fried rice. By the looks of your beautiful dish, seems like I have been missing out. I love a simple fried rice, actually the more simple the better for me. I would definitely add the sausages for hubby and kiddies, but you know I'm all about the prawns lol. This looks wonderful, Ann.

If you're afraid your kids don't like the turmeric smell, just dish the fried rice to them first and add turmeric powder later.

I actually popped by your blog before dinner, drawn by the title, tumeric somemore! However, at the first glipse of the pic, i closed the page immediately leaving me drooling infront of my comp tho lol.
