Avocado Creamcheese Cookies
I am submitting this to Aspiring Bakers # 3: My Favorite CNY Cookie (Jan 2011) hosted by j3ss kitch3n.
Recipe adapted from Angie’s Recipes
- Line 2-3 baking trays with paper. Cream butter, mashed avocado, cream cheese and sugar together. Add lemon juice, vanilla extract and beat until light and fluffy.
- Add in flour, baking soda and mix until incorporated. Fill your piping bag fitted with a star tip half full with cookie batter and pipe out cookies onto the prepared trays.
- Preheat oven to 190C/375F. Bake for 12-15 minutes until the cookies are lightly golden. Transfer them on the wire rack to cool and store in an airtight container.
My daughter and I make this recipe alot – it's our favorite chocolate chip cookie recipe. I usually cut the recipe in half and it make plenty.

Sesami seed put be4 the flour?
I didn't add sesame seed but you can mix together with the flour.
Hi, may i know how long can i store these cookies?
Hi Yeow Shaann,
These cookies are crispy after baked but they'll turned soft the next day.
Hi…i have tried this receipe but izzit the centre of the cookies is soft?
@Anonymous
Yes, my avocado cookies are also the same as yours. The texture is correct as what Angie had mentioned. I think the softness of the cookie is the creaminess of the avocado. Next time I'll try to add some egg white to maintain the crispness of the cookies. We can always try…right? and thank you for your feedback 🙂
Hi Ann
I baked this cookies during CNY season. The texture of the cookies were crispy (at first during the cooling progress) but turns soft (like ‘漏风’)after a few days ( I kept them in a airtight container). Is it suppose to be like this ? Where did I gone wrong ? I used 1 1/2 avocados instead of 1, cos i thought i could have more fragance.
Thanks
Keen in baking
I love what you did with this recipe….especially the adorable bite size shapes ;o)
Ciao for now,
Claudia
@Anncoo
PC Wong, Oh..you must used the riped avocado. Choose the one with dark green color and soft. You can also buy the lighter green and leave it on the table for 2-3 days until the color turned dark green.
Hi Ann,
I did half recipe. Didn't have any lemon at home that day so I used fresh orange juice instead 🙂 I reduced about 15 grams of the icing sugar. And you know what, this was the first time I bought avocado and I didn't really know how to choose. So the avocado was very raw and hard. No choice so I used food processor to mash them. I will wait until the other 2 avocado to ripe and try again. Will take your advice to add more avocado!! 🙂

@Anonymous
Hi PC Wong,
So glad to hear that you and your son liked this cookies. I think the texture depends on the size of the avocado. The second time I made this cookie, the avocado was quite big than the previous one. So I weighed the avocado (2nd one) is around 60g for half recipe and the cookie was quite crispy on the outside and chewy inside. How much icing sugar did you used?
Hi Ann,
I've tried this during my last weekend. Just wonder how were your cookies texture? Mine turned out to be a bit hard but the taste was great. My sons & I love them so much!
Thanks,
PC Wong
@Janine
Yes Janine. Have a try with your own modification 🙂
thanks for the reply! so your version tastes more lemony and can't taste the avocado at all?
@Janine
Thanks Janine 🙂 If you prefer the taste of avocado more than lemon juice, you can follow Angies recipe with less lemon juice. Just click on the link here.
Congrats on making it to the top 9 – your cookies do look great!
Just wanted to ask- is the taste of avocado obvious in the cookie? I am wondering if the lemon juice overpowers the avocado because I do like avocados 🙂
@Lyndsey
Lindsey, Thank you very much for your comment and it is very sweet of you wanting to send me the poppy seeds. But poppy seeds is not allowed to use in Singapore. I'll let you know when I'm lack of other ingredients.
@Spicie Foodie
Thank you Nancy 🙂
Ann I know I'm a little last to the party, but I did comment on this on facebook! 😀 They are beautiful, I'll bet they are creamy tasting. I don't like things too sweet either, just like the poppy seed pinwheel cookie I made, not very sweet at all. Too bad you can't get poppy seed there. We can get them by the tub full. I wonder if I could send you some.
Congrats on the top 9!! I've never heard of using avocado in cookies, and I'm now so intrigued. Thank you for sharing these and passing along Angie's recipe. These are going to be on the top of my must try list. They look so pretty too:)
@Lisa
I was curious at first when I saw this recipe at Angie's blog too.
@Ellie (Almost Bourdain)
Breads and cakes! That's sound interesting ;D Did you posted in your blog? I must take a look!
Avocado cookies! It's intriguing. I have tried avocado in breads and cakes but not in cookies. Bookmarked and try soon. Thanks for sharing.
I would never have suspected that there's avocado in those cookies. Sounds like a neat combination.
delicious stuff!! looks so good~
@Passionate About Baking
Hi Jane, Thank you and so glad you're here 🙂 Have a try, this avocado cookies is not sweet at all. If you're sweet tooth type, you can add a little more of icing sugar.
@Skip to Malou
Malou, Thanks for sharing. Hopefully one day you can show me how you made avocado into sweet 🙂
Congrats Anncoo for making it to Foodbuzz! I saw this recipe from Angie's Recipes too! I was so tempted to do it too, but just couldn't find a suitable time to do it! Yours was truly very well done!:)
I am so making these babies! And you have great piping skills… hope mine turn out as pretty as yours.
ann, i thought i commented on this post already.. haha but i just needed to say that they look so dainty… i would love to try them esp that you included a favorite which is avocado. you know growing up in the Philippines Im used to having avocado as sweet unlike here in the US avocados are used to make savory dips and guacamoles. so these cookies will make my heart skip haha! love it!

是牛油果,牛油果本身没味道,主要是代替牛油,所以是很健康的饼干,可以多吃。 :))
These piped cookies look beautiful! I remember seeing them on Angie's blog. I'll have to try this as I am always looking for egg-free recipes.
