Stir Fried Pork with Basil Leaves
Basil is commonly used fresh in cooked recipes. It is generously added at the last moment as cooking quickly destroys the flavor. Here is my simple recipe that uses Thai basil leaves in this meat dish and it is delicious with a hint of spiciness and savory to go with a plate of green vegetables.
Basil is full of nutrition and flavor. It can be powerful part of a hearty diet. The scent of basil is unforgettable and even better- the herb is connected to various health benefits.
Here is the recipe
Stir Fried Pork with Basil Leave
Ingredients:
- 500g Minced pork with some fats
- 2 tbsp Garlic – chopped
- 2-3 Fresh chillies, cut
- 1 tsp Sugar
- 1 tbsp Light Soy sauce
- 1 tbsp Dark Soy sauce (Kwong Cheong Thye Brand)
- 2 tbsp Oyster sauce
- one handful of fresh Thai basil leaves
Method:
- Heat wok and add enough oil, followed by garlic and fresh chillies. Stir fry garlic and chillies until aromatic.
- Add minced pork and quickly stir fry and break the minced pork into small lumps with the frying spade.
- When the pork is cooked, add sugar, light soy sauce, dark soy sauce and oyster sauce with 2 tbsp of water. Stir well.
- Add basil leaves and do a few quick stirs until the basil leaves are wilted with their exotic fragrance.
- Ready to serve.
- Enjoy!
Von, actually basil is very easily plant..not too water and don't put direct under sun.

I've only recently discovered basil but it is one of my favourtie herbs =) It's one of the few herbs we buy…..haha- we even tried growing it once but that didn't qork because it was in the middle of winter and we suck at growing things =D This dish looks really really yummy!

congrats on your awards! definitely well deserved. my dad makes a similar dish, except he knows i don't really eat pork so he makes eggplants with basil, so i know exactly how much lovely flavor the basil can add to a dish. such simplicity, but such wonderful flavors in this dish.

Ann, nice header you've got up there, perhaps u can make it right across the top and have u tried the 'Anncoo Journal' in dark green? Just my opinion. Love fresh basil, have that in my backyard and your minced meat looks soooooo yummy!
