I cook this often too as it's so economical! This is super delicious to go with porridge 🙂 Love streaky bacon!Ann, be sure to check out the Buy-1-Get-1-Free Mother’s Day “Hydra-Cura” Facial By Repêchage! Time passes so fast, it's another year!
I love streaky bacon and always stock them in my freezer. Thanks for the invite again. Hope I'm not too late.
I'm late to this post, but I really love it! stir fry cabbage is one of those simple, cheap, but utterly delicious dishes! my mum does it with dried shrimps instead of bacon, but I can imagine that same salty umami flavour! yum!
Shu Han, Have a try with bacon. Is really delicious.
bet the bacon gives a lot of flavour to the cabbage, such a healthy & delectable dish!
Hi Ann! I tried this dish yesterday. I thought it was a very interesting dish, not the usual way of cooking cabbage. but I found that the taste of bacon is too strong – that pork smell and I didn’t like it. Is it because I didn’t fry the bacon till very brown and hard? ( I was afraid to overfly the bacon). Is there any way to kind of remove or reduce that ‘pork smell”?
Hi Wendy, Yes, you must fry the bacon to crisp to get the nice flavour. The bacon will soften a bit after frying with the cabbage.
Oh I see. Ok I will try again the next time to fry the bacon till crispy. Thanks Ann for the advice 🙂
I always forget how flavorful cabbage is – especially with bacon!
Belinda, Then must start to cook this quickly 😀
Looks good looks good !! I love fried cabbage but never thought of going it with bacon, usually is the same old ideas of frying it with some seafood or fishcake stuffs. This is really fusion ! Must try must try !
Joyce, Have a try. I also love the little crisp in the cabbage.
I love cabbage and your bacon version for flavor.
Looks appetizing ! You can even make it as a filling for spring roll !
Good idea Anne. I'll definitely make it into spring roll.
This is very easy and delicious recipe. My husband loves Taiwan cabbage (not round, more flat) and he claims it's sweeter than regular (American) cabbage. Whenever we buy a Taiwanese cabbage I usually make stir fry. I'll add bacon and use this seasoning next time.
Nami, I think the flat one is more juicy than this one is more crisp. Hope you try it out soon.
Your dish is so yummy. I've never cooked this before, normally will be with some meat or prawns. Great idea to use bacon.
This is a nice post in an interesting line of content, great way of bring this topic to discussion.
I love cabbage and only know to fry with dried shrimps..this is a great option for a different taste. Thanks for sharing!
I love cabbage, and while I only enjoy bacon in a few settings, this one sounds wonderful.
Ann,this is certainly a quick & easy nutritious dish! We eat cabbage once every fortnight, usually cooked with dried shrimp! When I looked at your dish, I kept thinking of replacing bacon with salty fish but only a thought, I never buy salty fish, never buy anchovy, haha
Jessie, I've never thought of using salty fish before. But if you cook salty fish, will your ang moh neighbours complain? I remember my cousin in UK cook salty fish with fried rice, her neighbours cannot stand it… hahaa..
Add some flour and egg into this cabbage bacon stir fry, pan fry it, become another yummy Okonomiyaki, hehehe..
Ya hor! Good idea Sonia. Thank you!
This is one of the way that I love to prepare cabbage…so tasty and simple. Beautiful pictures Ann…hope you are having a great week 🙂
I love your photos and the flavors are so wholesome and delicious.

Yay! Bacon makes everything right! 🙂 … for me anyway.I'm officially out of ideas … this is perfect! Thanks, Ann!
Oh, Ann this looks so pretty and delicious. I like the addition of bacon and that idea must have made this dish even more yummy! Have a good week to you.~ ray ~
That's a wonderful Spring recipe 🙂
The youngest son love stir-fry cabbage and once in a while I add some bacon as a treat. If he sees yours, he will surely request for me to cook it soon 🙂 I am not sure which variety is Beijing cabbage but I normally prefer the flatter kind as it is thinner. Some cabbages here can be pretty thick and waxy.
Biren, I'm not very sure the type of cabbage. In the packing it is Beijing cabbage, 'bai cai'白菜,but this round one looks more than 'gao li cai' 高丽菜to me.
Looks so delicious! Your cabbage still looks crunchy instead of mushy, I like!
I love the Chinese cabbage (Beijing cabbage) and my mother-in-law too! It's sweet and versatile, as she says for most simple yet flavorful vegetable dishes. However, it is quite expensive over here, so I am quite impressed, though a little disbelieving that you can get it for under three dollars. All I can say is, lucky you!:)
Christy, hahaa… Is really very cheap. I only paid 90 cts for the cabbage.
Mmmm….sweet cabbage with salty crunchy bacon! Yums! Perfect combo…will try it out, tks!
Bacon makes every dish special. This is a beautiful photo.
I am a cabbage fans, I think frying it with bacon would be really nice when the cabbage soaks all of the bacon flavour ^^
